I leave tomorrow for two weeks but I have to work a half-day today, go to the bank, get my nails done and finish packing. Oh yeah, try to get some sleep before I have to be at the airport by 4:30 a.m.

Weekend Wrap-up
Can someone explain why four days of work drag by while a four day long weekend pass in a flash? It's already mid-afternoon on Sunday and I'm not sure how I got here.
It was the final weekend for curling, the men's worlds finished up in Halifax yesterday. Our Canadian team of Pat Simmons, John Morris, Carter Rycroft and Nolan Thiessen finished with the bronze, while Norway's Thomas Ulsrud and Sweden's Nicolas Edin were awarded silver and gold respectively. It made me a little sad to watch the final game...there won't be any curling televised until December.
But then I remember, the end of curling means spring is definitely underway. Our snow is almost gone! We had a cool weekend, today's high temperature is just above freezing. The front patio still has a bit of ice but another day or two of warm weather and I'll be able to bring the patio set out for the summer.
The back deck is clear so I could set up the table and chairs but I'll probably leave that until I can get out to the yard. That should be about the time I get back from my trip. Speaking of the trip I did get my suitcase partially packed. The list of items left to go in are mostly last minute things though I just remembered I need to pack my magnets and post-it-notes. That might seem like random items, but the magnets come in handy in the stateroom to hold up papers or invitations, since the walls are metal. The post-it-notes come in handy to leave messages on my door for friends or in the room for the steward.
One thing I did do this weekend was take several walks. On Friday after I walked to Staples to pick up a new ink pack for my printer and then over to the new Jysk store at the mall. The store moved from a smaller location to this one and I really like the way the store is laid out. I picked up a couple of solar "rocks". A friend recommended them for lighting up the steps to the deck. She said they're great too in a power outage - she brings them inside. At half-price they were definitely worth giving a try.
Saturday, I had an appointment to have my nails done at 10:45 so instead of taking the car, I walked to the mall. On the way home, I went the long way around, stopping at the hair salon for a cut and at Walmart to pick up a few groceries. I'm far too cheap to pay the price of a haircut at a regular salon so I go to a place that takes in walk-ins. I've been going to this salon for at least 5 years and I can only think of one or two haircuts I didn't like. I went a little shorter this time,with the weather warming and my trip ahead I wanted something wash and wear.
Yesterday after our Easter dinner*, meatloaf, scalloped potatoes and veg, I took a walk over to the creek by the condos. There is path there that was, until recently, covered in snow.
The Canada geese have been gathering there so I was hoping to get some photos.
As I walking towards the creek, I heard the sound of honking geese and looked up to see a gaggle of them. I thought, oh no, I've missed them.
But I hadn't missed them all. There were several still swimming in the water and several on the piece of ice in the center.
Every few minutes there would a burst of honking and a group would take off heading east in the direction of the large group I'd seen before.
The noise of the geese was overshadowed by the sound of the gulls. Oh my god, they're noisy creatures.

I discovered this path wraps around the condos, and leads to a major roadway nearby. When I cross the road, I'm on the path I visited for the first time a few weeks ago.
I met up with the Easter Bunny on my walk. He was nibbling on the grass and enjoying the evening sun.
He didn't seem to be the least big frightened of me and quite happily sat and posed for my camera.
Good to see he is turning brown!
At the far end of the path where I turn around is this set of culverts. I suspect if I were to cross the road I'd probably find more path to follow but it runs into a heavy traffic roadway.
Even though it was a bit cool, there were still a number of people out walking and lots of children on bicycles.
On the way back, I took another short path that runs back of the houses in the cul-de-sac across from my street.
This is a photo of the house on the corner down from my place. There are no plants so it is literally a rock garden.. I call it the grave-yard when I give people directions.
By the time I got home the sun was beginning to set. I realized I had been walking for nearly an hour. I know I'll be walking those paths again regularly as the weather continues to improve.
Something else I've also realized is there is beauty in my corner of suburbia. It just takes getting off the street and slowing down to see it.
